Ministries

Green Mountain Christian Center has a number of ministries that we have established and support.

ALMS FUND
The Alms Fund is one of the ministries of Green Mountain Christian Center established to show God's love in practical ways. It gives us the ability to help meet the needs of people in our congregation and community that are brought to our attention. These needs may include assistance with rent, heat, lights, transportation, as well as food and clothing needs that can't be met through the ministries of the Clothes Closet or Food Shelf. Alms Fund requests are approved by the Pastor. A simple request form available at the church office should be filled out and may be returned to the church office. Amounts given out vary from ten dollars to hundreds of dollars depending on the need and availability of funds. The Alms Fund is supported by the freewill offerings of the people of Green Mountain Christian Center.

BIBLE STUDIES
Bible Studies are available for all ages on Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm. There is Nursery for children birth to age 2, Cubby Bears for children age 3 through Kindergarten and KFC (Kids for Christ) for children in Grades 1 through 6. The Youth Bible class is called "Redeemed" and is currently studying 1 and 2 Timothy. Adult classes available are "The Bible – Reliable & Relevant" taught by Pastor John Goyette and "Christian Twelve Step" taught by WM Coordinator, Susan Stewart.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
Our goal in Children's Ministries is to provide a safe and happy environment where children can feel loved and accepted while learning about the Word of God and developing a personal relationship with Christ. During Sunday morning service we provide nursery care for infants to 2 years old; classes for Preschool Praisers, 3 & 4 years old and Super Church for 5 to 11 year olds. Our coordinator is Mary Hickey.

CLOTHES CLOSET & MORE
The Coordinator of the Clothes Closet & More, Teresa Sweet maintains the clothing room on the lower level of the church. The Clothes Closet is open to the congregation on the second Sunday of each month from 12-1:00 pm. On the second Saturday of every other month clothing and household items are arranged in the fellowship hall and given away free to the public from 10 to Noon.

DISCIPLESHIP
The purpose of Discipleship Ministry is to teach Christians how to acknowledge and surrender to Jesus as Lord; and become more like Jesus through the study and application of His Word; to grow to a point of spiritual maturity fully equipped to disciple others. Our Discipleship Coordinators are Harold Sargent and Noreen Gardner.

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER
The Encouragement Corner is established to reach out to church family and community showing love and compassion by sending greeting cards marking special events in their lives. Our Encouragement Coordinator is Joan Reddan.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOOD SHELF
The vision of "Food for Thought" is to reach out into the community to meet needs by giving groceries, educate and encourage spiritual growth. The Food Shelf is stocked by contributions from the congregation and others who donate food and grocery items. Our coordinator, Joan Reddan is at the Food Shelf on Wednesday mornings and by appointment.

GREETERS & USHERS
The Greeters and Ushers are usually the first individuals a visitor (a guest in the Lord's house) to the church meets. As was true of the Biblical doorkeepers the service rendered by our ushers and greeters and the attitude and demeanor with which they fulfill their office has a direct reflection on the Lord of the house, the Lord Jesus Himself, and upon our church. Our Head Usher is Dave Sweet.

MEN'S MINISTRY
Our mission at Honor Bound is to "Reach Every Family in America, One Man at a Time." We desire to see men grow in their relationships with God and their families. All men are invited to monthly men's breakfasts for food, fellowship and to hear an inspirational speaker. The next breakfast is November 20 at 9 am. Monty Meerwarth is the Men's Ministry Coordinator.

MISSIONS
The Great Commission is to "go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation." Mark 16:15 At GMCC, we believe both our Lord's command to reach the whole world and His promise to send the Holy Spirit's power to do it. We use four pillars of co-operative action - Reaching the spiritually lost with the message of Jesus Christ; Planting churches both regionally and in foreign nations; Training believers to become pastors and establish churches; Touching poor and suffering people with the compassion of Jesus Christ. Our Missions Coordinator is Susan Narkewicz.

NURSING HOME MINISTRY
June Coyne and Rae Bronson love and minister to the residents at Bennington Health and Rehab Center every Sunday morning.

PRAYER MINISTRY
Green Mountain Center is a haven that accepts all and gives a safe place for people to grow in their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Providing ways for individuals to learn how to pray and understand how God speaks to each one of our hearts with His love. We offer many avenues for people to receive prayer for their needs and to learn how to pray for themselves and others. Teaching the power of intercession and the power of God to heal and intervene. Our prayer ministries: Individual prayer following our services, individual appointments for prayer, Tuesday night all church prayer at 7 pm, prayer vine for emergency needs, pre-service prayer on Sunday morning prior to our service, studies on prayer and other opportunities through out the year. Our Prayer Coordinator is Judy Sargent.

PUPPETEERS
The Puppeteers minister the Word of God through skits and songs to the congregation the first Sunday of each month and to others in the community through various outreach programs. Our theme song “Everybody Ought to Know Who Jesus Is” enables us to share with people the message that there is a Savior who loves them. The Puppeteer Coordinator is Mary Hickey.

TAPE & TRACT MINISTRY
The tapes of Sunday morning sermons and tracts on a variety of subjects are available for encouragement of the body or outreach. Our Tape and Tract Coordinator is Pat Pinsonneault.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY
All women of the church are a part of Women's Ministry. Our purpose is to love, teach and encourage all women in the body. Our breakfast is the first Saturday of every other month, at 9:00 am offering a time for fellowship, and a speaker or activity which addresses the needs of women and their families from marriage and raising children to grandparenting, to growing through recovery. Our WM coordinator is Susan B. Stewart.

WORSHIP
God is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. We desire to be pleasing to the Lord by worshipping in a Scriptural manner rather than according to man-made traditions. We also want all believers to experience the joy and power that is found in liberated praise and worship. The Worship Team is composed of skilled musicians and singers who are lovers of God. They carry an awesome responsibility and a powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit. After prayer and practice each week they lead the congregation into the holy presence of God. Expressing exuberant praise and heartfelt adoration to the Lord; they model praise and worship not as a performance but as an offering to the Lord. Our Worship Team Coordinator is Paul Mackin. Our worship experience also includes: DANCE - Coordinator, Donna Fisher; FLAGS - Coordinator Linda Betit-Buck; and INTERPRETIVE WORSHIP - Coordinator Andrea Tobin.

YOUTH MINISTRY
Youth ministry at Green Mountain Christian Center includes several things. We help our youth learn more about Jesus and God’s Word, help them meet other Christian young people and make friends, do some fun activities and trips with other youth, and to learn to be part of some ministry here at the church such as youth worship team, sound team, nursery, Super Church, puppeteers, and more. Youth activities include: youth worship team, Bible studies, social gatherings, and LIFE (the Friday night youth program). Pastor Jim Treat and his wife, Barbara, are coordinators of the youth ministry.
